چکیده

We use a total Hamiltonian containing both an electron-phonon induced attractive part of the interaction between electrons, and a Coulomb repulsive part formulated in the Hubbard modelBy diagonalising it in the Bogoliubov and Valatin mean field approximation, we obtain equations for a two valued superconducting gap function, with a much more precise statement about the repulsive cut off energy than in the Morel and Anderson model. By applying these equations to our bidimensional electronic model for a Cu02 plane, we find that the calculated superconducting

Electronic phase diagram of high-temperature copper oxide superconductors.

In order to understand the origin of high-temperature superconductivity in copper oxides, we must understand the normal state from which it emerges. Here, we examine the evolution of the normal state electronic excitations with temperature and carrier concentration in Bi(2)Sr(2)CaCu(2)O(8+δ) using angle-resolved photoemission. In contrast to conventional superconductors, where there is a single...

Search for ferromagnetic order in overdoped copper-oxide superconductors

In copper-oxides that show high-temperature superconductivity (HTS), the critical temperature (Tc) has a dome-shaped doping dependence. The cause of demise of both Tc and superfluid density ns on the overdoped side is a major puzzle. A recent study of transport and diamagnetism in a large number of overdoped La2-xSrxCuO4 (LSCO) films shows that this cannot be accounted for by disorder within th...

Pseudo-Gap Phase, the Quantum-Critical Point and superconductivity in Copper-Oxide Metals

A systematic solution of a general model for Copper-Oxides reveals a line of transitions T = Tp(x) for x, the doping away from half-filling less than a critical value, to a phase with broken time reversal and rotational symmetry but with translational symmetry preserved. The single-particle spectrum in this phase is calculated to have a gap of dx2−y2 symmetry. The properties in this phase are c...

A First Principles Investigation of Transitional Metal Doping in Lithium Battery Cathode Materials

The goal of this work is to understand the properties of mixed-metal intercalation oxides. Using first-principles methods, the effect of doping on the mixing, energetic, and voltage properties as well as the phase diagrams of lithium transition-metal oxides for lithium battery cathode materials was investigated. The effect of doping on the phase separation tendencies of layered transition-metal...

High Pressure E¤ects

Experiments under hydrostatic and uniaxial pressure serve not only as a guide in the synthesis of materials with superior superconducting properties but also allow a quantitative test of theoretical models. In this chapter the pressure dependence of the superconducting properties of elemental, binary, and multi-atom superconductors are explored, with an emphasis on those exhibiting relatively h...
